Text-based entries in English or any other European language and/or submissions of all genres, styles and form (academic and artistic, including poetry, fiction, painting, photography, music, etc.) by scholars, artists and cultural practitioners are welcome and will be considered for publication. For scholarly and other text-based submissions, the following guidelines can be used:
500-1500 words for reviews, commentaries, and responses
4000-5000 words for essays, articles, and interviews
10000-12000 words for longer essays, articles, and analytical studies
For text-based contributions, please follow the Static guidelines
Visual and audio contributions should be submitted as RealPlayer, MP3 and Quicktime formats; they should be submitted ready-compressed at the desired quality, suitable for streaming at broadband speeds. Smaller files can be sent via email. Larger file sizes need to be provided on CD-ROMs or as downloads from a web/ftp server. If your compressed media file exceeds 20Mbs, or if you wish to include a different file format, please contact the editors.
Images should be submitted as JPGs, 72dpi resolution, at 1000+ pixels width/height (whichever is bigger).
When submitting your work, please include the following information: a biographical statement of no more than 150 words and a short abstract/description of the submission (or the first paragraph of the essay if appropriate).
The contributors are responsible for obtaining and securing the copyright permission for any submitted material. Static is not responsible for any materials submitted without the copyright permission.
